USC goes DOWN!

I guess someone forgot to tell the Beavers that they don't have a chance.

And someone forgot to tell the Trojans to actually show up and play their best.

Oregon State won 27-21 last night at home over the consensus #1 team USC.

Unfortunately I didn't post my opinion on USC previously so here it is. (I know it doesn't come of as good since they already lost)

I (still) do think USC is the best team in the country but I am not convinced. All they had done before last night is beat a bad Virginia team and beat a below average Ohio State team. And then last night they couldn't beat a team that (honestly) hasn't been very good this season.

USC bought into all the hype before this game. Some people (Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio) were calling this the best USC team of recent memory. Saying that they were better than the Leinart and Bush teams of years past. I never thought that was true. I KNOW USC is good but Sanchez had not played in a big game yet and McKnight is NOT Reggie Bush. Not even close!

But I still think USC is very very good. And by losing early they shouldn't lose again. I won't be surprised if they do but they shouldn't. Now they are awake and realize that EVERYONE is gunning for them.

They lost early, so they have plenty of time to get back to the top. You can bet that they will probably be the top rated 1 loss team and can make the national championship game if they win out.

But now this weekend becomes even more important for some teams. With USC losing that means Oklahoma (vs TCU) and Georgia (vs Alabama) have the chance to prove themselves and move into the top spot.

And this was a HUGE game for PSU. Because they weren't going to jump USC if the Trojans had gone undefeated. But now USC has a lose and it is to a team that PSU embarrassed 45-14 a few weeks ago. And now PSUs game against Illinois is that much bigger.....if they win (which they will) they could jump USC in the standings and end up in the top 10 and in position to make it to the title game.

So what if that sounded a little homer like. PSU is good and the country is going to see it this weekend!

Verb's Thoughts:

I will be the first one to step up and a test to the fact that my friend did say that Oregon St. does have a chance to win this game. I am not sure he straight up predicted it but he did say this is a game USC should look out for!
