Bad Timing

I know that football is the hot topic right now and it should be and will be until February but something happened this past week in another sport that burns my rear.

See, baseball is coming down the home stretch now and the pennant races and wild card races are heating up. I start to get back into baseball around this time because for some crazy reason I love the playoffs. Baseball in October is great!

In the American League, the Rays are only up 1 game on the Red Sox, and the White Sox are up 2.5 on the Twins. The West is already decided with the Angels wrapping the division up some time in May I think. The Red Sox or Rays have the wild card pretty much wrapped up being that Boston is 7 games up right now.

In the National League, The Phillies gained a half game lead last night over the Mets in the east and the Dodgers now have a 4.5 game lead over the Diamondbacks. The Cubs are 9 up in the central so you can pretty much chalk that one up. The race for the wild card is as close as the race for the east is with the Mets holding a half game lead over Milwaukee and 3 over Houston.

Its going to get heated down the stretch!

Now here is my beef fans. If you were a fan, would you want your team to fire your manager when it had the wild card lead in the middle of September. My personally, Hell no! What were the front office people of the Brewers thinking when they fired Ned Yost? I can understand, its a win this year attitude, but THEY WERE! They had the wild card lead. Its not like they were in last place. The Cubs are the best team in the National League and the second best team in all of baseball and that's only by a half game right now. It would be hard to be ahead of them right now and to be honest, the talent isn't there for those idiots to expect that.

Yost was doing a great job this year in Milwaukee. He didn't deserve that at all. Milwaukee has since fallen out of the wild card. I think it would be incredibly hard for those players to have to go through that this late in the season.

I just think it was a terribly wrong move to make and I hope Ned Yost gets another job in baseball soon because he deserves it!

Will the Mets fall apart again and miss the playoffs for the second straight year?
Will the Rays complete the dream regular season and win the AL East?
Will the White Sox give both sides of Chicago something to look forward to other then Kyle Orton?
Will the Brewers make it without Ned Yost?
Will Manny be the same in L.A. during the playoffs as he was in Beantown?

Its going to be interesting to see how all these races turn out but once the playoffs are annouced you can count on me to give you my predictions on what will happen during the playoffs.
