Meet The GM-

Here is a small introduction and a little bit about The GM:

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Much like Verb I am just a regular guy who works for an organization that doesn't really care about its employees too much. I punch a clock for 8 hours each day and travel about 90 mins daily to pay my bills. But sports is where I relax and enjoy life. I am looking forward to this blog and (soon) podcasting as talking sports is one of my favorite things to do.

What are your favorite sports to watch?
College football, NFL, Hockey, College Basketball, and just about everything else except the NBA, I just can't watch Pro Basketball.

What are your favorite sports to play?
Basketball, hockey, football, tennis

What are some of your favorite teams?
Penn State Nittany Lions, Philly Eagles, Washington Capitals, New York Mets, Villanova Wildcats

Who is one of your favorite players?
Donovan McNabb, David Wright, Jeremy Roenick, and Alexander Ovechkin. All of them are premier (or were, JR) athletes and all of them LOVE TO PLAY THE GAME! Each of them continuously has a big smile on their face while they are playing.

Who is one of your least favorite players?
I am not a fan of TO, mainly because of his destruction of the Eagles, but he is coming around. Or guys like Adam Jones or Tank Johnson who feel that they are bigger than the law.

Who is one of your favorite non-athlete sports personalities?
This is tougher for me.....I would say, maybe, Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic. I know that is two but there show is great. I am kind of looking at them as role models for where I want to get to. Another one would have been Rick Reilly before he left Sports Illustrated. He is starting to get back to where he was but so far his work with ESPN is below his old standard. And he was good with SI.

Who is one of your least favorite non-athlete sports personalities?
Al Michaels and John Madden. I really don't have a problem with either of them, I just think they should be done calling games as both say ridiculous things sometimes.

What is one of your favorite fan moments?
Being at game 7 of the AHL Eastern Conference finals in Hershey 2006. The game went to double OT before the Hershey Bears won the game. They went on to win the Calder Cup (AHL Championship) but that was by far the best thing I have ever been apart of.

What is one of your worst fan moments?
Suffering through multiple losing seasons rooting for Penn State back around 2003-2004. Also watching the Penn State vs Michigan game in 2005 was brutal. It was the only game PSU lost that season and it was in the final seconds.

Give us 1 good thing and 1 bad thing from the past year in sports that stands out.
One of my favorite things from this past year was Tiger Woods winning the US Open with a destroyed knee. I also really enjoyed watching the Patriots go 16-0 in the regular season and honestly enjoyed watching them lose the Super Bowl even though I was rooting for them. A bad thing about this past year in sports would probably be the betting scandal in the NBA. I think it put all sports in a bad light by raising questions about what could happen if the people in control want it to.

What do you love most about sports?
Personally I love the pride aspect. That is why I like College Football more than the NFL. I love that there isn't money involved (directly anyway) for the players to put everything on the line. I personally love the players that will never be NFL players and how much they give to their teams and schools. There is so much pride on the field each and every game that it is great to watch.
