Texas/Oklahoma

Now that was a football game!!

It was good enough for me to come on right away and give you my opinions.

First let's start with the supposedly questionable or bad calls:

  • The 1st OU touchdown was good. There was no reason to review he was clearly over the line WITH the ball. Yes his knee touched short but that doesn't matter....the BALL WAS IN!
  • The 2 personal foul calls on OU # 28 Lewis were both bad calls. Did they cost them the game? Absolutely not....but they were BAD calls.
  • The OU interception in the endzone was a good incomplete ruling. In order to catch a ball you MUST retain possession the whole way to the ground and he obviously didn't do that.
  • The OU punter should really be playing football for a team like Manchester United or Chelsea. What an acting job he did on those running into the kicker calls.

Texas really showed everyone something. I had them at #2 in my top 10 but I honestly thought OU would beat them by 2 touchdowns. I was impressed.

Colt McCoy is the real deal. Again he completed 80% of his passes. That is unreal against a good defense like OUs.

Losing Reynolds at linebacker was HUGE for OU and a HUGE benefit for Texas. It was amazing to look at the stats from when he left the game. Prior to Reynolds leaving with the injury OU was giving up like 4.3 yards per play.....after the injury.....8.2 yards per play. THAT is a big difference.

Overall I think it was one of the best football games I have seen in a while. Surely the best game so far this season, college or pro. Hopefully the remainder of the games today live up to their hype as well.
