The GMs College Picks for week 11

Not a very good week last week. I went 3-7 against the spread. I am a little disappointed in myself. Over/Under I didn't do much better.....4-6.

Not a good week if you bet on these with me.

But on a good not I got the 2 big games right!!! WOOHOOO!!

We have 6 games featuring BCS ranked team vs BCS ranked team so I will pick all of them plus another 4. And I am doing 2 Thursday night games this week. Enjoy!

VIRGINIA TECH ---- 3 ------ 42 -------- maryland

This is the beginning of a brutal stretch for Maryland to finish out the season. And to make things worse for them...they are bad on the road. Virginia Tech is coming off of 2 straight losses (both on the road) and are looking to make a statement in this Thursday game. Take VaTech to cover but take the under as I would be surprised to see MD score more than 14.

tcu ------- 2 ------ 43 -------- UTAH

The first game with 2 ranked teams this week comes Thursday night. This game is going to be good. 2 good offenses against 2 good defenses! I am getting excited to watch just looking at the teams. TCU has intercepted 14 passes this season...good for #1 in the conference and 10th in the FBS. And Utah isn't terrible with throwing picks but they have thrown 8....expect a couple more tonight. TCU wins and covers. I am going to say....take the under.

illinois ------- 7 ------- 61 ------ W. MICHIGAN

Obviously Vegas expects a shootout. Western Michigan is actually a pretty good team and Illinois has struggled recently despite their win last week against Iowa. This here will be my first upset special. W Michigan will win and the two teams will go over 61.

penn state ----- 7.5 ------ 43 ----- IOWA

Yes this game is in Iowa and yes Iowa isn't a bad team. They have lost 4 games this season by a combined 12 points. But those losses are to Pitt, Northwestern, MSU, and Illinois.....none of those teams are PSU. Penn State wins by 14 and scores almost 43 by themselves. Take PSU and the over.

TEXAS ------- 27.5 ------- 66 ----- baylor

How will Texas respond? Will they destroy an over matched Baylor team? I think they will. But by 27.5?? Yes I think they will. I want to pick Baylor here to stay within 4 touchdowns but I don't think they can. I have to take Texas to cover BUT I take the under.

ohio state ------ 11 ------- 42.5 ----- NORTHWESTERN

The second game matching ranked teams, albeit just barely as NW is 24th. I don't THINK NW can pull the upset but OSU's offense is bad enough to allow them to stay in the game for a while. I will take OSU to win but not by 11. Take NW and the under.

USC ------ 20.5 ------- 52.5 ------- california

Another game with 2 good defenses and 2 solid offenses. The game is @ USC which makes a huge difference here. But Cal has never been scared to go into the Coliseum to play the Trojans. I really feel an upset here.....a huge upset if you look at the line. But can I really take Cal? Yes I can. I think the Cal defense wins this game for the Bears. Take Cal and the over.

NORTH CAROLINA ----- 4 ----- 43 ------ georgia tech

UNC at home is a tough team to beat. I think GT can move the ball on them but I don't think they will win or keep it within 4. Take UNC and the over as the offenses will dominate the game.

TEXAS TECH ------- 3 ------- 73.5 ------- oklahoma st

Texas Tech got a huge win last week against Texas obviously. But can they continue the roll and beat the Cowboys? Can they avoid the letdown like Texas themselves did earlier this season? I don't think they can. In another upset I take Okie State. But I don't think these offenses score 74 points. Take the under.

alabama ------- 3 ------- 48 --------- LSU

LSU has looked bad in their 2 big games this year. But has Alabama even played a big game yet? No but it doesn't matter. If this game was at night I would be much more inclined to take LSU but it is an afternoon start which takes away some of the atmosphere. Alabama will win and cover. And I would also take the over as I think the offenses may score some here.


There you have it. I took 1 HUGE upset with Cal over USC and 2 other small upsets with W Michigan and Okie State. I am hoping to improve on last weeks results but I am still .500 on the season with a 15-15 record. You would still be breaking even!!
