Super Bowl XLIII

Wow! Two things that I never thought I would see...an African American in the White House and the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl. What are the odds?

The Cardinals beat the Eagles in pretty convincing fashion on Sunday and the new President takes office today.

And oh yeah the Steelers beat the Ravens relatively easily on Sunday as well.

So on February 1 in Tampa, Florida Super Bowl XLIII will be played between a team many thought could make it and a team that no one thought would ever make it.

As for the Championship games I thought they were both fairly interesting and honestly I thought the officiating was terrible. All season long you see flags come in for everything from touching a quarterback after the throw to touching a receiver during a pattern. And yet in two of the biggest games of the season there were missed pass interference calls and a terrible no call when the Ravens hit Big Ben well after the ball was gone.

The Eagles barely made a game of it and if it wasn't for a missed extra point, a missed field goal, and a missed 2 point conversion they might have had a chance at the end. If they hit the extra point and the field goal they would only have been down 3 at the end and wouldn't have needed to worry about getting a touchdown.

But they didn't and now they are done and on vacation. A couple of those Eagles might be on a permanent vacation from Philadelphia.

The other game was honestly dominated by the Steelers. A nice punt return set up one of the Ravens touchdowns and they just weren't in the game for most of it.

Many people were trying to tell me that the running game was the key to the game and which ever team ran the ball more would win the game and that wasn't the case at all as the Ravens ran for more yards but lost the game. Other people told me that the Ravens would be able to pass the ball against the Steelers and that didn't happen either.

Big Ben played great and the defense was tremendous. The Steelers seemed like the underdog in the game as the officials and the announcers seemed to favor the Ravens all game long.

But in the end we have an interesting Super Bowl.

The Cardinals...a team no one gave any chance to getting there this season or any season for that matter against a Steelers team that was always a possibility.

The best receiver in the game against the best pass defense in the game.

It should be a good game. I am sure we will talk about it again.
