A Bird Will Win!

Not sure if you heard about this yet but there are a couple big football games this weekend.

Seriously. The Philadelphia Eagles travel to Arizona to play inside a big bubble on the best playing surface in the NFL. While the Baltimore Ravens ice skate up to Pittsburgh to play a little hockey. Yes, it might be that cold.

But the question on so many minds is who will win these games. Well I will tell you the one thing I do know...

a bird will be in the Super Bowl and there might be 2.

Okay. Seriously. Let's look at the NFC game....

Philly @ Arizona

Everyone knows the importance of Brian Westbrook to the Eagles. If you don't it goes like this... the Eagles are 7-1 this season when Westbrook gets at least 20 touches. The one loss was in week 2 against Dallas when the Eagles scored 37 and were outscored by Da Boys.

So the first order of business for the Eagles is hand the ball off to Westbrook 18 times and throw at least 2 passes to him.

As for the defense....just do what you do against Kurt Warner. Warner has faced the Eagles 6 times in his career (once in the playoffs) and is 2-4 against them with both wins coming in the 01-02 season and playoffs when the Rams lost the Super Bowl to the Pats. In those 6 games Warner (the man with amazing stats) has thrown for a whopping 220 yards per game and has 7 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

Which means the second order of business for the Eagles is just do what you do. Apparently Warner can't do much against you.

The Cardinals need to do one thing similar to the Eagles but replace Westbrook with Edgerrin James.

When James gets double digit carries the Cardinals are 6-1 including 3 straight wins. Interesting considering they benched him for most of the season and he wanted to go play somewhere else.

Unfortunately for the Cardinals the Eagles do not give up much in the way of rushing yards. That shouldn't necessarily matter for their plan though. Even if they are only averaging 3 yards a rush they should continue running the ball. 4 of the 6 wins came with James averaging UNDER 4 yards per carry.

So there you go. If James runs the ball more than 10 times the Cardinals are likely to win. If the Eagles get the ball to Westbrook 20 times or more the Eagles are likely to win. Now...what happens if both teams do what they need to do?

How the hell am I supposed to know...I am just a blogger.

But I do know who is going to win. The Iggles will win.....27-20. Kurt Warner will throw 2 interceptions and will fumble once while Donovan only turns the ball over 1 time. The Eagles defense will also pick up 3 sacks and will pretty much put pressure on Warner every time he drops back.

Oh and the Cardinals will NOT get James double digit rushes but the Eagles WILL get Westbrook 20 touches.
