Verb's Pick 6 - Week 16

OK, nevermind me going 1-4 in the college basketball games yesterday. That was a fluke and I promise I will start getting better with that. I just need some practice. Practice makes perfect.

I have been making NFL picks for a little while now and even though I can't give you my overall record or anything, what I can tell you is that I remember one week where I was 6-1.

That counts for something, doesn't it?

Ok, so maybe you don't trust me yet with your money and well, I am not sure I blame you but this week I am feeling really confident and trust me, I am a better bet then any of those guys on TV that you have to pay for that tell you they haven't lost a game all year!

Let's go with Week 16!

Pittsburgh @ Tennessee (+2.5) - Upset Special!
-I am not real sure if this truly qualifies as an upset special only because Tennessee is at home and they still are pretty good. I think Pittsburgh is the favorite only because they have been playing better lately. Tennessee is playing at home and now they have something play for. Pittsburgh is coming off a huge emotional win and I just think that its going to be all about defense and Pittsburgh is great but Tennessee is really good too!
-Tennessee wins 19-17.

Philadelphia (-5) @ Washington - Best Bet!
-This is a game between two teams going in opposite directions. Washington has done nothing but lose it seems lately and with the mess between Portis and Zorn, you have to wonder where this team is at. Philly on the other hand has been mighty impressive since Donovan was benched. He has the offense playing really well right now and I think the defense will be ready to go against a poor Redskins offense right now.
-Philadephia wins 34-13.

Wow, I already have my upset special and Best Bet (NOT GREEN BAY) picked! BOO YA!

San Francisco (-5) @ St. Louis
-I picked the Niners against the Jets as my upset special and they won so I think I am feeling good about this team right now. The game will be inside and to be honest Shaun Hill is playing pretty well. St. Louis's secondary hasn't played well in about 4 years so I feel like the matchup will be the difference in the game. St. Louis may be able to move the ball a little bit with Steven Jackson but not enough to win.
-San Francisco wins 27-17.

Atlanta (+3) @ Minnesota
-Atlanta is playing for the playoffs. Minnesota kind of is too, I guess but not as much. The Dallas loss last night may give Atlanta even more energy today. I am not picking it as a true upset special because I think Minnesota comes back late in this one when they realize they really are playing this game and have to try a little bit. It's going to be a very good game coming down to a field goal at the end.
-Minnesota wins 26-24.

Buffalo @ Denver (-6)
-Do you remember Buffalo's game last week. Now I am sure they covered the spread in that game but they blew it. They were at home last week and this week they are in Denver. I think this is going to be one of the week's where Denver shows up and just goes off offensively. Even against Denver's terrible defense, I don't think J.P. Losman is going to do much of anything. I just think Denver makes it a shoot-out and Buffalo can't keep up.
-Denver wins 31-17.

San Diego @ Tampa Bay (-3.5)
-The recent lack of a run defense that Tampa has shown kind of scares me in this one. However, LaDainian just hasn't been himself this year. I think the advantage in that matchup still goes to Tampa's D right now. Antonio Bryant may be the hottest receiver in the NFL right now and no one of San Diego's defense is really going to be able to stop that. San Diego is also traveling across country in the wrong direction. Now the game is scheduled late so it may not make as big of a difference but it will have some affect, I expect.
-Tampa wins 27-21.

Bonus Over/Under pick is Carolina @ New York Giants (37.5)
-I know its going to be cold and both defenses are pretty good but to me that seems like a really low number here. Both teams like to run and that may be why the number is so low but I really feel like both teams can move the ball on any defense as long as Eli isn't forcing anything. I think the game goes OVER and maybe but a good margin.
-New York wins 24-20.

There ya have it, 7-0 may not happen but I am fairly confident that 6-1 is a good possibility. So take these games to your bookie and when you come out incredibly rich on Monday shoot me an email or make a comment and let me know and I will give you a very loud WOO WOO!

Enjoy the games!
