5 Title Games

There are 5 big (well 2.5 big) college games this weekend. 5 conference title games and another conference's champion will be crowned in Pasadena around 8 tomorrow night. That's right USC will beat UCLA (even if they didn't have ANY timeouts) and win the PAC-10 title and a berth in the Rose Bowl.

The other games are all conference title games. And I tell you who wins below.

MAC Championship:
12 Ball State vs Buffalo
8:00pm ESPN2 (Friday night)
Detroit, Michigan

This won't be a game tonight in my opinion. Ball State is easily a better team and shouldn't have any real problems against the Bulls. But I do respect the Bulls and think they are a good team. Against another MAC team maybe they would have a shot but not against Ball State.

Ball State wins by 3 touchdowns.

C-USA Championship:
East Carolina vs Tulsa
12:00 ESPN
Tulsa, Oklahoma

East Carolina started out the season so good by winning against VaTech and WVU but then they stopped winning for a few weeks. But they eventually got back on track winning 5 of their last 6. Tulsa was ranked in the top 25 for a short period but lost back to back games in the middle of the season to ruin their dreams of an undefeated season. This game is pretty much Tulsa's offense against East Carlina's defense. If the Pirates can limit the Golden Hurricane's to let's say 31 points then they have a shot. If Tulsa scores over 31 it is over.

I personally think Tulsa wins and I think they score about 41.

ACC Championship:
17 Boston College vs 25 Virginia Tech
1:00 ABC
Tampa, Florida

In what is usually a very good and very important game the ACC Championship is very uninteresting this season. (by the way...this is the .5 from up top) I only consider this a partial big game because it does carry a BCS bid with it but its not near as important as say the other games on Saturday.

Neither offense is worth much but both defenses are exceptional. This might be decided by whoever gets to 10 points first. Although sometimes in games pitting defenses like this against each other you see shootouts. But I doubt it. BC leads the country in interceptions with 25 and although VaTech has only thrown 10 this year I think the Eagles get 2 and take 1 back for 6.

Boston College wins in a low scoring game. Probably within 10 points.

SEC Championship:
1 Alabama vs 4 Florida
4:00 CBS
Atlanta, Georgia

Most people will tell you that this is going to be the best game of the day as far as the big games are concerned. This game SHOULD be the best considering you have the #1 vs #4 teams in the country playing against each other. I am certain that in 1 of the big 2 games the favorite is going to lose. In this game Florida is favored by 10.

You have the top 2 run defenses in the SEC going against each other. And it just so happens that they are also the top 2 run offenses in the SEC. Which means they do the same things really well. So if both teams either run for a lot or don't run for any then the difference in the game is going to be the passing games. And guess who wins that battle.

Yup Florida wins and I think big. I say the Gators win by 20.

Big 12 Championship:
20 Missouri vs 2 Oklahoma
8:00 ABC
Kansas City, Missouri

In theory this game will be a blowout. Oklahoma should dominate and very well might. Sam Bradford is arguably the best quarterback in college right now. And Missouri lost their 2 other big games. And they lost last week IN KANSAS CITY to Kansas. And they are supposed to give OU a game. I am not convinced.

OU has the best offense in the Big 12 and the nation and Missouri's pass defense is the worst in the Big 12. That should mean something, right? It does. Oklahoma is currently a 17 point favorite in this game. And many people think they will cover.

But remember what I said before...1 of the favorites from the 2 big games WILL lose and I believe I picked Florida before, so.....

Missouri wins this game. They are at home and they are upset about last seasons game when OU beat them in the title game. Missouri wins in a shootout.

There you go. No picks against the spread this week or for the rest of the season. Just straight up picks and thoughts.

And remember who picked the Missouri win first.....ME!
