Wake Forest vs Navy
Saturday, Dec. 20, 11:00am on ESPN
RFK Stadium - Washington, DC
Why you should watch:
- It's the first bowl game of the season and you are surely going through withdrawal from not having any major college football in two weeks.
- To see how bad the ACC really is.
- To watch the #1 rushing offense in the country.
- Because the ACC might be that bad.
- Really? It's Navy vs Wake in DC IN DECEMBER!!!
- Because they already played once this year
Streaks and Scheduling Notes:
Navy:
- 8-4
- 6th straight bowl game, they are 2-3 so far
- They won 7 of their last 9 games (2 losses to Pitt and Notre Dame)
- They have won 4 games this season when playing at a neutral site or on the road
- 7-5 (4-4)
- 4 bowl games in the last 10 years....3-1 in those games
- They lost 4 of their last 7 games
- Went 2-3 on the road this season....no wins since September
Key Stats, Figures, and Players:
Navy:
- Averages almost 300 yards a game on the ground.
- Even though they don't pass much they are top 30 in passing efficiency so they can pass when the want to.
- RB's Shun White and Eric Kettani have combined for 1,953 yards and 12 touchdowns. White averages 8.7 yards per carry.
- Good defense. Top 20 in scoring defense in the country.
- Horrible offense. They are 100th in rushing offense and 84th in passing.
- QB Riley Skinner has had an okay year mainly throwing to WR D.J. Boldin (Anquan's little brother). Boldin has 77 catches which is 52 receptions more than the next closest player.
Who Wins:
Navy....this game is in Washington...not that far from Annapolis. So it is basically a home game for the Midshipmen. And Wake just hasn't been impressive this season especially on the road. Their only good win was over Florida State and I still don't know how that happened. Not only that but Navy already won this game once this year.
